What is the History of Connecticut Mega Millions?
Connecticut Lottery Corporation is a Multi-State lottery, designated by the government of Connecticut State USA in 1971. The first CT Play4 Lottery tickets were sold in the State after one year on February 15, 1972. Connecticut lottery’s second name is CT Lottery in State. “Thomas Meskill ” signed Public Act 865.
Mega Million was Launched as “The Big Game” on August 31, 1996. On September 6, 1996, Mega Millions held its first drawing. The first drawing was held under the 5/75 + 1/15 format.
The multistate game was presented with the new brand of “Mega Millions” in May 2002. And the lottery matrix as well as winning prize volumes had been improved. Connecticut Lottery joins the multistate lottery Mega Millions on January 31, 2010.
An additional feature called MegaPlier was introduced in October 2013. Megaplier costs an additional dollar and it can multiply the prize by x2 to x5. MegaPliers are only available in some of the states.
On October 28, 2017, the price of a Mega Millions plays doubled ($2). And the starting jackpot was increased from $15 million to $40 million. The two-drum concept was suggested by Steve Caputo of the Oregon Lottery. The two-drum concept has since been used by The Big Game (now Mega Millions).
