What is the History of the Missouri Powerball Lottery?
In 1985, Missouri Lottery was created. Missouri became the 23rd lottery in the United States. Missouri State Lottery was run by the government of Missouri. Missouri Lottery state is a member of the Multi-State Lottery Association (MUSL). Missouri Lottery was first drawn was held in 1988.
The MO Lottery began selling tickets on January 20, 1986. MUSL created the PowerBall lottery as Lotto America in 1988.
Missouri lottery was one of the founding members of the Missouri Alliance to Curb Problem Gambling. The initiation of Missouri PowerBall was on February 13, 1988. The game, name, was changed to Powerball on April 19, 1992.
Powerball’s first drawing was held on April 22. In 1996, Powerball went “on the road” for the first time, holding five remote drawings at the Summer Olympics in Atlanta. Power Play started to be drawn with an RNG (Random Number Generator) in January 2009.
Once again the format changed to 5 of 59 + 1 of 39 in 2. Since the initiation of Powerball until August 21, 2021, Powerball drawings were held twice a week (Wednesday and Saturday).
