For the creation of Washington’s Lottery, Governor John Spellman signed Bill (House Bill-1251) on July 16, 1982. And Washington Mega Millions Lottery began ticket sales four months later on November 15.

In 1982, Since the Washington Lottery launched, for the initial few years, Lottery proceeds were going to the state’s General Fund. After being initiated Washington Mega Millions Lottery is one of the biggest supporters of educational projects statewide.
