The Arizona Lottery is a state agency of Arizona in the Southwest United States. The main objective of Arizona Lottery is to support Arizona programs for the public benefit by increasing revenue in a responsible manner. It is a member of Multi-State Lottery Association (MUSL). MUSL was created to facilitate the operation of multi-jurisdictional lottery games, most probably Powerball. Arizona became the first state west of the Mississippi River to approve the lottery when statewide public initiative narrowly passed in November 1980. A vote to extend the lottery was passed in 2002 for another ten years, with 73% in favor. In 2010, Lottery was extended into 2035.

First Sale and Product of Arizona Lottery:

The first sale from Arizona Lottery was 41 years ago on July 1, 1981 and the product was an instant scratch ticket called Scratch It Rich. Since then, Arizona Lottery has sold nearly 1,000 different versions of its Scratchers tickets.

Proceeds from sales of Arizona Lottery tickets, nearly $4 million weekly, fund a variety of state programs. The Arizona Lottery transferred over $205 million to these programs, in fiscal year 2016. The Lottery transfers money to 12 funds that further serve 18 beneficiaries. There are six Core Arizona Lottery pillars that these 18 beneficiaries align with: arts and education; community enrichment; economic development; environmental conservation; health and human services; and public safety.

Age Requirement for Arizona Lottery:

Arizona requires lottery players to be at least 21 years of age; the minimum age was 18 until June 1, 2003.

The Pick

The Pick is an in-state jackpot game; its first drawing was October 13, 1984. The overall odds of winning a cash prize are approximately 1 in 39. If other players also match all six numbers, you will share the prize pool in equal amounts. Drawing prizes must be claimed within 180 days of the drawing. The Pick players can add EXTRA!  Overall odds of winning a prize with EXTRA! Are 1 in 3.8.  The Pick promotions where all non-jackpot prizes were doubled, the prize doublet does not apply to EXTRA! Triple Twist

Triple Twist is an in-state jackpot game. Its first drawing held on December 17, 2018. Overall odds of winning a cash prize are 1 in 7.9. The combined odds of matching 10-18 numbers to win a $2000 prize are 1 in 142,824.9. Drawing prizes must be claimed within 180 days of the drawing. All sales are final. Drawing game tickets cannot be voided.

You can play your numbers for up to 12 consecutive drawing dates on the same ticket. At the time of your purchase, you just tell the cashier or mark the Number of Draws box on your selection slip.

Triple Twist Largest Jackpot:

The largest jackpot ever claimed was $1.9 million back on May 22, 2019, located in Tucson. Jackpots start at $200,000.

Powerball

Powerball first drawing held on April 3, 1994, when a lottery became a member of MUSL. The odds of winning Powerball are approximately 1 in 24.87. If other players also match six numbers, you’ll share the prize pool in equal amounts. Winning the Match 5 Prize (all 5 white balls); you still pay $2 million regardless of the multiplier drawn number. Power play does not apply to the jackpot. Drawing prizes must be claimed within 180 days of the drawing. All sales are final. Drawing game tickets cannot be voided.

Mega Millions

On October 13, 2009, the Mega Millions consortium and MUSL reached an agreement in principle to cross-sell Mega Millions and Powerball in U.S. lottery jurisdictions. The first Mega Millions Drawing for Arizona was held on April 8, 2010. Arizona joined Mega Millions on April 18, 2010. Mega Millions became two-dollar play on November 1, 2017.For an extra $1 the winnings may be multiplied by up to 5 with the Mega plier option. The overall odds of winning a cash prize are approximately 1 in 24. If other players also match all six numbers, you’ll share the prize pool in equal amounts. Drawing prizes must be claimed within 180 days of the drawing. Mega plier does not apply to the jackpot. All sales are final. Drawing game tickets cannot be voided. To see if you won the lottery, match the numbers on your ticket to the winning numbers after the drawing occurs.
