GM Robles Dismisses PCSO Data Breach Report As “Fake Clickbait News”

In response to recent allegations of a data breach within the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), General Manager Mel Robles has categorically dismissed these claims as “fake clickbait news.” Robles emphasized the importance of relying on verified information and cautioned the public against being misled by sensationalized reports lacking credible sources.

This isn’t the first time Robles and the PCSO have faced unfounded accusations. Previously, the agency was subjected to graft and plunder complaints filed by the group Filipinos for Peace, Justice, and Progress Movement (FPJPM). The PCSO labeled these allegations as “dubious and questionable,” underscoring the necessity for the public to critically assess the credibility of such claims.

Under Robles’ leadership since July 2022, the PCSO has achieved significant milestones. Notably, in 2024, the agency awarded a staggering P1.4 billion in prizes over just two days, marking a record-setting week. Robles attributed this success to the unwavering support of Filipino bettors and highlighted the agency’s commitment to transparency and integrity in all its operations.

The PCSO’s dedication to excellence has not gone unnoticed. In November 2023, the Governance Commission for GOCCs (GCG) recognized the PCSO as one of the most improved and best-performing government-owned and controlled corporations. This accolade was based on the agency’s impressive performance scorecard rating of 92.03% for 2022, reflecting its commitment to transparency, efficiency, and public service.

Robles remains steadfast in his mission to uphold the PCSO’s integrity and service to the public. He urges the public to rely on official channels for information and to be discerning of sensationalized reports that lack credible verification.
