Mega Millions $1.13 Billion Jackpot Hit by New Jersey Lottery Player

New Jersey lottery players are celebrating a historic win! A single ticket sold in the state matched all six winning numbers in the Friday, March 29th Mega Millions drawing, securing a staggering $1.13 billion jackpot. This marks the fifth-largest jackpot in the history of the Mega Millions game, and the first billion-dollar jackpot of 2024!

New Jersey Lottery Player Won Mega Millions $1.13 Billion Jackpot

The winning ticket matched all six numbers drawn on Tuesday night: 7, 11, 22, 29, and 38, with the gold Mega Ball 4. This massive win comes after a series of drawings that saw the jackpot grow to this staggering amount. This jackpot is the first win of this year, last won in December 2023. The largest Mega Millions jackpot in history was a staggering $1.602 billion, sold in August 2023 to a winner in Florida.

Alongside the monumental $1.13 billion jackpot win in the New Jersey lottery, the recent Mega Millions drawing also created 13 new millionaires across various states. These lucky winners, “baker’s dozen,” matched all five white balls to claim their million-dollar prizes. One particularly fortunate player in New York added a Megaplier to their ticket, boosting their prize to an impressive $2 million. The remaining tickets, sold in California, Colorado, Florida (2), Georgia (2), Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, New York (2), and Ohio, each secured a $1 million windfall.

The odds of winning the Mega Millions jackpot are incredibly slim at 1 in 302,575,350. The winner has two choices receiving the full amount (over 30 annual payments across 29 years or opting for a lump sum cash).

Interestingly, New Jersey allows lottery winners to remain anonymous, unlike some other states. Winners also have up to a year to claim their prize. The last time a Mega Millions jackpot-winning ticket was sold in New Jersey was in July 2020, when a ticket worth $123 million was purchased in Bayonne.
